Highlights from the All-Star Game
The Senior All-Star game sponsored by the San Diego County Coaches Association was held on Friday, April 17 at Horizon. The North team won 128-94 over the South team setting an All-Star game record for most points scored.
The North was led by MVP Tommy McCarthy of La Costa Canyon who will play at Harvard next year, McCarthy scored 25 points.
Only two players, Crawford’s Tyrone Shelley ’07 (33 points) and El Camino’s Devin Watson ’14 (29 points) has scored more than 25 points in the game since it began in 2006.
With ten seconds remaining in the game Tommy McCarthy attempted and converted his first dunk in his prep career during a game.
Austin Knox of Kearny was the South team MVP scoring 19 points.
Mira Mesa’s Kris Johnson won the slam dunk contest and Tommy McCarthy was on the 3-point contest at halftime.
El Camino’s Quen Meadow did not convert any dunks in the Slam Dunk contest but likely had the best dunk in the game later that night.
